I have learnt a lot this year, I do every year of course. However is year has totally confirmed that I was moving in the right direction after changing course in 2008 due to a football injury.

Some of the following points I already knew and have had confirmed even more strongly in the last year. Some of them are new to me. All of them are true.

1 patience is hugely important, don’t force it
2 don’t believe the hype
3 the price is always negotiable
4 segmentation is key
5 quality control counts
6 to say no
7 filtering is important
8 persistence
9 the mailing list is king
10 social media rocks
